| Babaloo Wins World’s Largest Songwriting Contest Amazing! I took First and Second Place in the 2008 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) -- a feat they say has never been done. “The Wee Wee Dance” and “My Toothbrush Fell in the Toilet” won first and second place, respectively, in the Children‘s Category. It’s been great waiting for the mail every day. I’m getting guitars, guitar strings, keyboards, headphones, throat lozenges, and stuff I don’t even know how to use. The UPS guy is getting pretty tired of my long, narrow, gravel driveway. Best of all, I’m automatically a member of lots of professional musicians’ organizations, and my songs are being presented to music industry bigwigs. Look out, Wiggles! Funny thing; last year I entered “Room For Everyone” and other songs about sharing and caring and only made runner-up -- which was great. But I guess the judges prefer potty songs to pretty songs. They tell me the ISC is the largest song competition in the world and well-respected in the music industry (I read the web quotes). The judges include big-time radio and record execs, along with some of my heroes -- Jeff Beck, John Mayall, Kings of Leon, Dr. Dimento, Loretta Lynn, Robert Earl Keen, Weird Al Yankovic, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Michael Smith. To think that some of these folks may have listened to my songs …. Wow! www.songwritingcompetition.com. |
